Cleo + Coco is a natural deodorant brand who came to SMAKK during a time when the natural deodorant category was becoming incredibly crowded and they knew they needed to boldly reposition themselves in order to stand out. Their elevated products are made with carefully selected, high-performing natural ingredients that are safe, effective and supremely pleasurable. They were also some of the most incredible smelling products we’ve ever smelt—and we’ve smelt a lot of products.

Innovative formulation, women-owned, and a deep sustainability mission. What’s not to love? With Cleo+Coco, we were able to elevate the brand from the tired “natural but it works” conversation we were all used to hearing in the category and position them as a conscious pleasure that allows everyone to care for themselves as well as the planet. They were also introducing the world’s first zero-waste deodorant bar wrapped in compostable greaseproof paper as well as a refill option with paper push-up tube—something we can always get behind.

Results
After a successful relaunch, Cleo+Coco saw a +56% increase in total sales and the brand’s DTC channel now constitutes roughly 50% of its sales. They have been featured in Marie Claire, Harper’s Bazaar, Allure, Goop and Vogue. They are now available online at Target, Rite Aid and Goop, and rank in the top 40 for natural deodorants on Amazon.
