Wanting to create a premium hair care and personal care brand, Saint Martin came to SMAKK in order to develop a bold and meaningful brand with a deeper mission of wellbeing for black men.With a successful chain of barbershops in the Detroit area, the husband and wife team behind Saint Martin wanted to use the cultural experience of barbershops in order to inspire deeper and important conversation on wellness, self-love, and worth. In order to elevate this, SMAKK blended rich elements of the past with refined, modern imagery, paying homage to tradition while carving a sophisticated and deliberate path forward.
SMAKK led brand strategy, naming, visual identity and messaging, packaging, campaign development, and ecommerce design, copy and development. Creating more than just a brand, but an ecosystem that honors generations of wellness and cultural innovation through products that meet the diverse needs of black men.
