Looking to bring 3,000 years of Chinese wellness to the Western market, Dao Labs turned to SMAKK to make holistic medicine feel approachable and credible.
SMAKK drew from the tenants of Daoism - minimalism and balance - while creating the brand for Dao Labs. We knew that a strong positioning for their new line of wellness formulas would not only have to prove the functional benefits of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to an unfamiliar US audience, but portray this ancient remedy as an essential part of living a balanced life, with simple and modern branding.
With Daoism at its center, SMAKK built the visual identity, messaging and packaging design leaning on photography and illustrations to reveal the balance in nature, and the pureness of ingredients to differentiate Dao Labs from other water-soluble wellness brands.
