St. Augustine College, a Hispanic Serving Institution founded in 1980, tapped us to build a bold new brand identity and website as it looked to the future.

St. Augustine College was founded as a way to help individuals of Hispanic descent and other underrepresented groups succeed through a curriculum and institutional experience designed to help them learn the English language, assimilate into the culture, feel supported in their growth, and receive an education that properly prepares them for a future career. As the college looked to expand its curriculum, and embrace a digital learning environment, it came to SMAKK for an upgraded identity that would appeal to new students while honoring their history and tradition.

Supporting students is our number one priority, and we focus on providing an
education that works with your life—from small class sizes to flexible schedules, 
one-on-one advice with success coaches, and debt-free gradutations.

WHAT WE LOVED ABOUT THIS PROJECT

We’re big nerds here at SMAKK, so we loved being able to dive into the changing educational landscape as part of a larger cultural conversation. Beyond that, we were fully aligned on the mission of the college to empower diverse communities to thrive into today’s competitive world with the skills and confidence they need to achieve long-term goals and make a positive impact. The project also offered the fun challenge of creating a new brand identity that remained steeped in academic excellence while also being dynamic, modern, and fresh.

WHAT WE DID

We developed a new brand identity with updated messaging and visual elements that allowed the college to dynamically expand into the digital space. It was important that the messaging showcased the deeper dedication of the college to the success of its students, espcially in the changing landscape, and that the visual choices worked together with the messaging to feel bold and modern, but also warm and inviting. We also created a system of logos with a strong, recognizable brandmark, so that as the college grew into a university, the branding was flexible enough to incorporate more schools. Once the new identity was complete, we developed a website that allowed for deeper storytelling and easy wayfinding for prospective students, current students, alumni, and more.

RESULTS

After a successful rebrand and new website launch, we have continued to help the college evolve through marketing and printed materials, including a prospectus.
